Long, hot days filled with sunlight and sprinklers. Wearing shorts on warm evenings. Running barefoot. Popsicles and ice cream on the back porch, reading on the day bed. Open doors and windows, candles glistening in each room. Eating fresh cherries and grapes while sitting in the fort outside. Movies in bed. Trips to the beach with picnic lunches. The smell of sunblock. Crushes, holding hands, sneaking kisses when no one is looking. The Fourth of July, we sit on the hood of the car, parked in the street, and watch fireworks dance in the sky.
